It’s the 24th day of the 25 Days of Christmas preseason rankings for West Coast Preps, this time with the No. 2 team.

The rankings, which will tab the top 25 football teams in the Bay Area, announce one team each day through Christmas Day. The No. 1 team will be unveiled on Dec. 25 at WestCoastPreps.com.

Only schools located within cities on the Bay Area Census are eligible for the poll.

West Coast Preps unveiled the No. 25, No. 24, No. 23, No. 22, No. 21, No. 20, No. 19, No. 18, No. 17, No. 16, No. 15, No. 14, No. 13, No. 12, No. 11, No. 10, No. 9, No. 8, No. 7, No. 6, No. 5, No. 4 and No. 3 football teams in the Bay Area earlier this month.

No. 2: Serra

The state-runner up last year is back for another go-around as one of the elite programs across high school football.

Serra, which won 13 games a year ago, came within eight points of a state crown before falling to Corona del Mar in 35-27 fashion after winning Central Coast Section and Northern California championships.

And the talent is everywhere from a squad whose resume was massive in addition to that success, picking up two victories over No. 4 Valley Christian and routing No. 3 Pittsburg, 58-21, in the non-league slate.

Junior quarterback Dominique Lampkin stepped up following an injury to now-Arizona State quarterback Daylin McLemore, throwing for 750 yards and eight scores while rushing for another 448 yards and four touchdowns.

Senior Vince Poni – the leading rusher in 2019 (489 yards) – returns next to Lampkin, while junior athlete Hassan Mahasin (offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Florida Atlantic, New Mexico, San Jose State and Utah State) is another headline returnee following his 726 all-purpose yards as a sophomore. Alongside those two is senior tight end Christian Pederson, a Louisville commit.

Mahasin and Pedersen both earned preseason notoriety, with Mahasin coming in at No. 32 in the Xclusive Speed Top 45 Powered by West Coast Preps and Pedersen coming in at No. 43.

Senior linebacker Fynn Williams is another notable returnee and led the team in tackles (71) his junior campaign. Eric Myers, a fellow senior linebacker, is an Oberlin commit.
