West Coast Preps CEO and Owner Chris Jackson unveiled the first-ever Jackson Five, which provides five predictions for the weekend. Here are his five picks for the opening slate of football games.

  1. Acalanes over Monte Vista

Brady Huchingson’s senior season will start off with a bang for Acalanes, as the senior quarterback who threw for 2,646 yards, 29 touchdowns and just five interceptions last season will do even more damage in his final campaign. Acalanes wins a close one at home over the No. 14 team in the Bay Area.

Score prediction: Acalanes 24, Monte Vista 21

  1. San Ramon Valley over Las Lomas

Although the Wolves lost Division I prospect Tanner Salisbury to Mater Dei, they are locked and loaded for a special spring 2021 season. Junior quarterback Jack Quigley, who threw for 1,502 yards last year and holds a William & Mary offer, will have a big day behind an offensive line that feature two players with Division I offers in junior Jackson Brown and senior Kyle Ecker (San Diego bound).

Score prediction: San Ramon Valley 28, Las Lomas 17

  1. Campolindo over Freedom

Both teams are excited with the amount of talent on each roster, but the Campolindo Cougars, fresh off another 10-win season in 2019, come away with the victory. Army bound Matai Bell has a strong outing, along with senior receivers Maxwell Weaver and Joey Schmidt, who combined for 900-plus receiving yards last year.

Score prediction: Campolindo 24, Freedom 17

  1. Dave Fogelstrom era starts off in big way

The culture under first-year Heritage head coach Dave Fogelstrom is strong, as the buzz around the program is high entering Friday’s season opener against Granada. Senior quarterback Asher Haynes and his leadership will be crucial to start off this new era, along wiht the play from senior Hanai Muhammad. Fogelstrom gets a win in his first game as head coach.

Score prediction: Heritage 31, Granada 20

5. Athlete of the Week prediction: Brady Huchingson
