Valley Christian sophomore Jurrion Dickey can do anything he wants on the football field, and his performance in all regards Saturday earned him West Coast Preps Athlete of the Week honors.
Dickey finished with 87 receiving yards and one touchdown in Xclusive Speed’s 21-14 comeback victory over Iron Sharpens Iron to finish the Winner Circle Athletics Champions League season with a 4-2 record, but those numbers only told part of the story. He intercepted two passes, including the final pick of the game to seal the deal and conclude the time in Los Angeles with a win.
All season long in the travel ball circuit, Dickey was an unstoppable force for opponents, with his effort becoming his best showing since week No. 2, back when he had six catches for 144 yards.
At Valley Christian, Dickey stepped into the limelight as a freshman and dominated right away at a premier program that also competes in a premier league like the West Catholic Athletic League. In a run-dominant offense – Valley Christian ran the ball 78.5% of the time in 2019 – Dickey came away with a team-high 541 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in the VC’s run to 11 wins and a runner-up finish in the Central Coast Section.
Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, California, Oregon State and San Jose have all offered Dickey.
