Montgomery specialist picks UC Davis
Montgomery senior punter/kicker Reese Martin announced he will play college football at UC Davis.
Martin, a North Bay League Specialist of the Year honoree, will grey shirt and then join the UC Davis program in 2022.
De La Salle pitcher off to Chicago
De La Salle pitcher Kason Pelz made his pledge to the University of Chicago on Friday.
Pelz joins a Chicago program steeped in success in recent years, accumulating a 24-12 record in 2019 and a 26-13 record in 2018.
Oak Grove lineman commits to Foothill College
Oak Grove senior defensive tackle Izaya Sabedra committed to Foothill College.
Sabedra finished with more than seven tackles for loss, one forced fumble and an interception his junior season at Oak Grove, part of a defensive unit that held opponents to 16.3 points per game.
Oak Grove went 10-3 last year, capturing a league title and advancing to the Central Coast Section Division II championship game before falling to Los Gatos.
First two Division I offers roll in four 2023 Pittsburg prospect
Pittsburg’s 2023 football class is loaded, and running back/defensive back Will Stallings Jr. became the latest to snatch some Division I offers.
Stallings was offered by Charlotte on Tuesday, followed by Arkansas State less than 24 hours later. Stallings is part of a Pittsburg program that won 11 games a year ago and won a Bay Valley Athletic League crown.
Among the Pittsburg sophomore who also boast Division I offers are quarterback Jaden Rashada (offers include Arizona State and Auburn, to name a few), athlete Rashid Williams (Arizona, Arkansas, Cal and numerous others), receiver Keynan Higgins (Arizona State) and receiver Israel Polk (Cal).
University of Pittsburgh hits ground running in Bay Area
One Day after the University of Pittsburgh added Brennan Marion, a former Hawaii assistant and head coach at Vallejo’s St. Patrick-St. Vincent in 2013, as its receivers coach, the Panthers immediately made their presence felt in the Bay Area.
Pittsburgh first offered De La Salle junior cornerback Zeke Berry, who won a North Coast Section title with the Spartans during his sophomore year and appeared in the state championship game. Berry’s other offers: Arizona, Arizona State, California, Colorado, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Utah and Washington State.
Valley Christian sophomore athlete Jurrion Dickey was the second of the two offers from Pittsburgh, extending a list of offers next to Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, California, Oregon State and San Jose State. Dickey led Valley Christian in receiving as a freshman with 541 yards and seven touchdowns.
Bishop O’Dowd kicker adds pair of offers
Bishop O’Down senior kicker Gabriel Plascencia, tabbed as one of the best kickers in the country, hauled in two more offers this week.
Adams State and Iowa Wesleyan offered Plascencia, becoming part of an offer list that also features Arizona Christian and Pacific.
