Another Napa tight end commits

A second Napa High School tight end will play Division I college football.

John Giguiere committed to the University of San Diego on Monday, joining four-star Brock Bowers (Georgia) as the second Napa tight end on this year’s squad to announce his intentions to play at the next level.

Giguiere finished with 38 receiving yards, 25 rushing yards and seven tackles for Napa last season in its remarkable turnaround from a winless 2018 campaign to a 7-4 mark in 2019.

Novato baseball star heading to Mountain West

Novato junior outfielder Derek Bartram pledged to one of the Mountain West’s top baseball programs.

Bartram committed to Fresno State, who most recently made it to the NCAA Tournament in 2019 and boasts one national title on its resume.

A two-year varsity player already, Bartram drove in 18 runs as a freshman and then added a pair of doubles and RBIs in a shortened five-game sophomore season.

Tongamoa to Southern Utah

St. Francis senior linebacker/fullback Joe Tongamoa is heading to Southern Utah next year.

Tongamoa, who committed to Southern Utah last week, was a standout on a talented 2019 St. Francis squad. He registered 57 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and 20 quarterback hurries in the Lancers’ run to a Central Coast Section Division I quarterfinals appearance.

Cal Poly and Lake Erie also offered Tongamoa.
