EBAL baseball players commit

Foothill senior pitcher Nathan Shinn announced his college commitment last week. Shinn committed to San Francisco State, a program that most recently went 25-21-1 in 2019 (the 2020 season was cut short after the team went 14-8 through its first 22 games before the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the remainder of the schedule).

Granada’s Xavier Lortie joined the fray, committing to Bethel University in Minnesota late in the week.

Menlo-Atherton athlete to UC Davis

Menlo-Atherton senior defensive back Jayden Stanley made his verbal commitment to UC Davis.

Stanley finished with three interceptions and 39 tackles his junior year, as Menlo-Atherton went 7-4 overall, captured a league title and was a Central Coast Section quarterfinalist. That came after he had 17 tackles and two picks in Menlo-Atherton’s 2018 state title run.

In addition to UC Davis, Stanley held offers from Montana, Northern Arizona, San Diego and Southern Utah.

Salesian star picks Cal Poly

Salesian senior tight end/defensive end Elijah Satcher committed to Cal Poly on Friday.

Satcher is tabbed as one of the 10 best players in the Bay Area in the Xclusive Speed Top 45 Powered by West Coast Preps after his 85 tackles, 21 sacks and 230 receiving yards as a junior was instrumental in Salesian’s state title run.

Lafayette and Lehigh also offered Satcher, whose 40-yard dash time is a 4.59.

Leaks sets decision date

Vacaville Christian senior athlete Jaron Leaks is less than a week away from picking his college destination.

Leaks said he will commit on Dec. 19 and then sign his National Letter of Intent on Feb. 6. His offer list features Georgia Knights Prep Academy, La Verne, Lawrence Tech, Pacific, UC Davis, Valley City State and Whittier.

Despite an injury, Leaks’ junior campaign brought Vacaville Christian to new heights after a one-win season the year prior, notching 395 receiving yards, four touchdowns, 40 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery while VCS went 7-5 and played in the Sac-Joaquin Section semifinals.
