Valley Christian athlete picks college
Valley Christian senior tight end/defensive end Tyler Roberts ended his recruitment last week.
Roberts committed to Lafayette, an FCS school located in Pennsylvania, becoming the second Valley Christian football player to commit over the past week – following in the footsteps of junior tight end Sam Roush, who announced his pledge to Stanford.
In Valley Christian’s run to an 11-win season and a trip to the Central Coast Section Division I championship game, Roberts finished with 19 tackles and five tackles for loss.
WCAL first baseman commits
One St. Francis baseball player’s college destination is officially set.
Senior first baseman Will Florio committed to Stonehill College, whose athletics programs compete at the Division II level. Stonehill went 8-5 in 2020 and won four of its final five games before the remainder of the season was canceled.
Beavers come in for Top 2023 QB
The offseason keeps on rolling for Pittsburg’s latest quarterback edition.
Sophomore Jaden Rashada, tabbed as the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback nationally in the 2023 class, hauled in an offer from Oregon State on Thursday. Arizona State, Auburn, Cal, San Diego State, San Jose State and Utah are his other offers.
Rashada played his freshman season at Liberty, where he backed up current Oregon quarterback Jay Butterfield, completing 12 of 22 passes for 129 yards and three touchdowns.
Offer No. 2 for Garwood
A top-flight running back from Los Gatos saw his second collegiate offer roll in.
Senior Adam Garwood was offered by Rocky Mountain College, which was his second offer. The University of San Diego offered Garwood in May.
Garwood has enjoyed a star-studded career at Los Gatos, highlighted by a junior campaign when he rushed for 1,260 yards and 20 touchdowns to help lift the Wildcats to a Central Coast Section Division II crown.
Castro Valley back earns first Division I offer
Castro Valley senior running back Michael Lewis added to his extensive resume.
Lewis, a two-time Running Back MVP this offseason at the Xclusive Speed Bay Area Top 100 Showcase, received his first Division I offer from Brown. The Ivy League school joins Puget Sound and Whittier on his offer list.
In addition to his success on the football field, Lewis also boasts an impressive 4.5 GPA.
