Numerous top-rated Northern California recruits made their college commitments this past week. Others were offered. Some named their top schools.

UCLA nabs top 2027 commitments
UCLA’s weekend of the spring game netted some premier commitments, including in Northern California.
Folsom 2027 receiver Rob Larson announced his commitment on Sunday afternoon, citing his love for the school, program and coaching staff – now led by Bob Chesney, who formerly led James Madison to the College Football Playoff. Nineteen D1 schools offered before Larson’s commitment.
Placer (Auburn) 2027 lineman Gage Esty locked in his UCLA commit. Esty’s family is steeped in football greatness – family who played professionally and two brothers who played collegiately.
And an uber-familiar name joined in: De La Salle 2027 running back Duece Jones-Drew, the son of UCLA great and former NFL running back Maurice Jones-Drew. Duece helped lead De La Salle – also his father’s high school alma mater – to a second straight CIF Open Division state championship game.
De La Salle linebacker shows why he’s a four-star – and more offers are coming
Landon Miller was, without question, someone who everyone’s eyes were on at the De La Salle/Serra Showcase on Wednesday.
Miller is a consensus four-star prospect, with 247 Sports tabbing him the No. 107 overall player in the 2028 class nationally, regardless of position. He is 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, moves super well, has quick feet and his hands are superb – he picked off a pass with one hand.
Washington was an announced offer after the showcase. So were Minnesota and San Jose State.
Now, Miller has 10 offers in total.
And big weeks at De La Salle, Serra
De La Salle 2027 athlete Chase Young was offered by Minnesota, joining a list with Colorado State, Nevada, Sacramento State, San Jose State and Stanford.
2027 outside linebacker Zion Cadet was offered by Sacramento State’s new staff, led by head coach Alonzo Carter. New Mexico and San Jose State earlier offered.
Freshman lineman Samatuafaiga Tagaloa Jr. announced a Washington State offer, and the family name is one of legends at De La Salle. Tagaloa Jr. also holds Cal and Sacramento State offers.
2028 athlete Damari Dean may be one of the fastest risers not just in NorCal, but the entire west coast. Arizona State, Colorado State and UNLV all offered this past week after BYU did the week prior. Dean hit 10.32 miles per hour in the 100-meter dash, too.
Fellow 2028 Jameson Mitzel picked up his first two offers Wednesday from Minnesota and San Jose State. Mitzel is a 6-foot-3, 225-pound linebacker.
Meanwhile, at Serra…
2028 tight end Sam McReynolds received his first two Division 1 offers from New Mexico and San Diego State. McReynolds is listed at 6-foot-7, 210 pounds and competes in three sports – football, basketball and baseball.
Jeovanni Henley, a 2027 athlete, unveiled a top five of BYU, Cal, Penn State, Texas and Washington.
Grant is coming again
The Pacers nabbed two state titles from 2022-24, made a trip in 2023 and then were moved up to Division 1 in 2025 – just a field goal away from the section final.
With what Grant returns – and who is rising the ranks – the Pacers of Grant in Del Paso Heights are sure built for another lasting run at this storied program.
2027 defensive back Jaylen Rabon earned his third Division 1 offer from Idaho. Other offers include New Mexico and San Diego State.
2028 linebacker Julian Bruno – a First Team All-Sacramento Linebacker – is up to a whopping 17 offers. The latest: Syracuse.
And that’s 17 offers for 2027 defensive lineman Giovanni Hodge, a championship talent and all else. Idaho was the latest to offer.
2028 offensive lineman Max Tuiileila hails from a terrific family and was offered by Washington State. That marks eight total D1 offers.
Meanwhile, Washington State also offered freshmen Daniel Blackwell Jr. and Latana Koniseti. Koniseti is a safety with a previous offer from San Diego State. Blackwell is an athlete previously offered by Sacramento State and Southern.
Now at Grant: 2027 offensive tackle Thurman Lyles, formerly of Elk Grove High School. Colorado State just offered the 6-foot-5, 260-pound recruit, who has 10 total offers. A UCLA official visit is also upcoming.
NorCal’s next top QB?
Buchanan 2028 signal-caller Tommy Devany is blowing up on the recruiting trail.
Devany now has five offers, and the latest was the biggest – coming from Tosh Lupoi and Cal. It joins a list of Fresno State, Oregon State, San Jose State and Utah.
Both On3 and 247 Sports tab Devany a four-star, top 300 prospect nationally.
How about this week for San Ramon Valley’s Aden Owolabi?
Offers rolled in like a dime a dozen for San Ramon Valley 2028 offensive lineman Aden Owolabi.
Owolabi announced six: BYU, Cal, Minnesota, Sacramento State, UCLA and UNLV.
Owolabi is listed at 6-foot-6, 280 pounds.
Sacramento Athlete of the Year sets official visits
The recruiting process changed late for Faith Christian senior superstar hooper Lauren Harris.
Harris – the two-time Athlete of the Year in Sacramento and three-point national record holder – was a Long Beach State signee before LBSU’s head coach took the associate job at Alabama. So, Harris reopened her recruitment and has since scheduled a pair of official visits.
Those trips: Seton Hall and then Colorado.
Harris led Faith Christian to the Division 4 state title in March, an especially impressive feat considering Faith Christian is a D6 school with a high school enrollment of 52.

- Antioch monster 2028 offensive tackle George Tyus is another fast-rising recruit, and it shows with a trio of offers this week from Minnesota, Nevada and UCLA. The 6-foot-8 tackle has 13 offers.
- Bishop O’Dowd 2027 quarterback Christian Cermenelli-Johnson had a big-time announcement with his first D1 offer coming from Idaho.
- Central Catholic 2028 defensive lineman Marquis Roberts announced a UNLV offer. Sacramento State and San Jose State previously offered.
- Central East 2027 cornerback Jontae Della picked up his fourth offer from UNLV. The others: Montana State, New Mexico and Sacramento State.
- Central East freakish 2027 athlete Bayon Harris added a San Jose State offer. The state champion is a 6-foot-3 and three-star recruit has 11 Division 1 offers.
- Also at Central East: terrific 2027 athlete Xavior Jones, who was offered by UC Davis and UNLV. His offer count is 14.
- Clovis East 2028 offensive tackle Deegan Bingham earned offer No. 1 from UNLV. Bingham is listed at 6-foot-5, 255 pounds.
- Clovis West freshman Aamir Wright is the real deal who just picked up his second D1 offer from UNLV. Oregon State previously offered.
- Edison-Stockton freshman Antwone Beattie earned his first offer, this one being from Oregon State.
- Golden West 2028 offensive tackle Kaleb Matthews delivered big news with his first offer from UNLV. Matthews is a rising prospect at 6-foot-5, 264 pounds.
- Liberty Ranch 2027 offensive lineman Deshaun Jackson is another top talent whose profile is growing. Jackson was offered by Washington State, joining Cal, Nevada, Northern Arizona and San Diego State.
- Liberty Ranch 2027 defensive lineman Soni Takafua-Tupou led the Hawks to a league title in the fall and has since blossomed on the recruiting circuit. Benedictine, Hastings and Indiana Wesleyan all offered in the past seven days.
- Los Gatos 2027 running back Devonte Troutt was offered by Montana State-Northern. He was recently featured as a Hidden Gem by West Coast Preps.
- And Montana State-Northern also offered 2027 Los Gatos receiver Shane Harmer.
- Madera 2027 tight end Jayden Martinez announced his second D1 offer from Cal Poly. Martinez is 6-foot-4, 230 pounds.
- Valley Christian-San Jose 2027 edge rusher Cameron Saunders earned a Minnesota offer. The 6-foot-6, 241-pound three-star has 12 offers and an official visit scheduled for Utah on June 12.
- Washington is the latest to offer St. Francis three-star 2028 linebacker Jayden Lewis, who is up to 10 Division 1 offers.
- Woodcreek 2027 athlete Trace Murchison picked up prestigious offers from Brown and Penn. The section champion, 1,000-yard receiver and baseball star also boasts offers from Georgetown, Idaho, Nevada, Sacramento State and San Diego State.
