Ever since Christian Brothers junior DJ Crowther stepped on the field, football was a love he never wanted to let go.

“I’ve always just had a love for the game,” Crowther said. “I was always passionate about it and I just love coming out here and competing and dominating.”

Crowther – a running back, athlete and linebacker at Sacramento’s Christian Brothers – was involved in football beginning as a young 4-yard-old, and since then, he’s developed into a high-caliber prospect in Northern California.

Last season, playing as part of the junior varsity and varsity squads at Christian Brothers, Crowther continuously made plays, churning out a combined nine touchdowns out of the backfield and on special teams – part of a program that won seven games and appeared in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III playoffs.

With the extra time to prepare for the upcoming season, Crowther is ensuring he takes advantage of all the time presented to him and focusing on his schoolwork, where he boasts a 4.0 GPA.

“I’ve seen myself grow strength wise and mentality wise,” Crowther said. “It’s really had me step back and really spend time with my family and just keep working and just focus on school because that’s a huge part in trying to make it to a Power Five school.”

Numerous Division I schools have been in contact with Crowther, who said he’s talked with coaches from Arizona State, California, Colorado, Fresno State, Nevada and UNLV, to name a few.

“I’m looking for a school that best fits me and that’s just a good fit for me and then God.],” Crowther said. “God is No. 1. Wherever God puts me at, that’s where I want to be.”

For his junior campaign, Crowther strives for a perfect record. Christian Brothers was 7-4 a year ago.

More could be in store.

“I’m trying to go undefeated, and I just want to go out there and compete and for us to just put on a show,” Crowther said.
