Folsom QB headlines Cal’s 2027 class
Cal and first-year head coach Tosh Lupoi snagged a top-tier quarterback out of Folsom High School.
Class of 2027 signal-caller Brody Rudnicki committed to Cal this past week, choosing the Golden Bears over fellow finalists BYU and Utah. Rudnicki adds to a Cal recruiting class ranked No. 20 nationally by 247Sports and No. 18 by On3.
Rudnicki authored one of the best stories of the entire 2025-26 school year, stepping in for injured quarterback Ryder Lyons during the second half of the CIF Northern California championship game. He rallied Folsom from a double-digit deficit to win that contest before leading the Bulldogs to a dominant CIF State championship victory over Cathedral Catholic the following week.
Rudnicki is a consensus three-star recruit and one of four Sacramento-area players committed to Cal in the 2027 class, joining Sutter edge rusher Troy Bowens, Grant tight end Rahzario Edwards and Grant edge rusher Giovanni Hodge.
Manteca to the Palouse
Manteca cornerback Jayden Harris is off to the Palouse in a few months.
The ballhawking star committed to Washington State over the weekend, choosing the Cougars over five other offers.
Harris, a three-star prospect, intercepted eight passes as a junior.
Sacramento State snags Stockton defensive back
Alonzo Carter’s Sacramento State staff landed a commitment from Stagg Class of 2027 cornerback Kemonnie Eskridge.
Eskridge chose the Hornets over offers from Fresno State and Idaho.
Sacramento State, entering its first season at the FBS level, boasts the nation’s No. 86 recruiting class according to 247Sports. Other local commitments include Folsom defensive lineman Lua DeBerry and Grant receiver Koby Shabazz.
Woodcreek catcher finds college home
Woodcreek senior catcher Cameron Clouse committed to Saint Mary’s College in Moraga.
The powerful backstop appeared in 24 games for the Timberwolves before an injury ended his senior campaign. He hit .328 with 21 hits, 20 RBIs, five doubles, three home runs and two triples.
Woodcreek shared the Capital Valley Conference championship.
First offers in Sacramento
Two Sacramento-area football players picked up their first Division III offers.
Christian Brothers Class of 2027 athlete George Gadison Jr. announced an offer from Puget Sound before adding another from George Fox just 24 hours later. Gadison was named Defensive MVP at George Fox’s camp.
Meanwhile, Rio Americano Class of 2027 safety Niko Chatzis earned his first offer from Puget Sound. Chatzis was a First Team All-Capital Valley Conference selection as a junior after intercepting three passes and forcing three fumbles.
Massive offer week at St. Mary’s-Stockton
Powerhouse St. Mary’s-Stockton girls basketball saw several players receive Division I offers.
Class of 2029 guard Aynya Hardy picked up an offer from Cal State Bakersfield, adding to a growing list that already includes Arizona State, Nevada, Pacific and San Diego State. Hardy earned All-Sacramento honors as a freshman after averaging 10.1 points, 4.0 assists and 3.6 rebounds while helping the Rams capture a 23rd Sac-Joaquin Section championship.
Fellow Class of 2029 guard Dylan Horton added two more offers: Cal State Bakersfield and San Diego. Horton is another reigning All-Sacramento selection after averaging 13.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game while leading the Rams to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 1 title.
Amani Rafiq, a Class of 2028 guard, earned her first Division I offer from Cal State Bakersfield. The younger sister of legendary scorer Mateen Rafiq, Amani averaged 10.5 points per game as a sophomore.
Star Class of 2027 guard Kori Rogers also announced an offer from Long Beach State. Her offer list now includes Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Florida, Florida State, Long Beach State, Louisville, Michigan, Mississippi State, Oregon State, Sacramento State, UCLA, UNLV and Utah. Rogers earned First Team All-Sacramento honors this past winter.
Modesto Christian’s stellar backcourt
Both Class of 2027 guards Siincere Hudson and Trevor Dickson added to their impressive offer lists.
Hudson announced an offer from Loyola, joining Idaho State, Illinois Chicago, Loyola Marymount, Montana, Pacific, Sacramento State, San Francisco, Texas Tech, UNLV and Wichita State.
Dickson, meanwhile, picked up an offer from Loyola Marymount. His offer list now includes Fresno State, Loyola Marymount, Nevada, Pacific, Rutgers, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Stanford, Stony Brook, UC Riverside, UC San Diego and UC Santa Barbara.
Both earned First Team All-Sacramento honors this past season while leading the Crusaders to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 1 championship.
