From the desert to the beaches, Los Angeles is the mecca of high school football. From five-stars to underrated prospects, to established programs, to young teams on the rise, here’s West Coast Preps’ top 25 power rankings for Los Angeles.

1. Santa Margarita (4-0): The defending CIF-SS Division 1 champs have picked up right where they left off. Santa Margarita is sitting pretty at 4-0 with a win over Corona Centennial and dominant out-of-area wins. Carson Palmer and the Eagles are the team to beat until further notice.

2. Mater Dei (4-0): The Monarchs have quieted all doubters with an impressive 4-0 start and a 10-9 win over Corona Centennial last week. They jump three spots following the win.

3. Sierra Canyon (3-0): The Trailblazers keep the No.3 spot following a lopsided win over Hawaii’s Saint Louis. They’re undefeated at 3-0 with blowout wins against Florida’s Chaminade-Madonna and JSerra Catholic.

4. Corona Centennial (1-2): It’s been rough sledding for Cen10 as of late, losing to Santa Margarita and Mater Dei in back-to-back losses by a combined margin of two points. They drop two spots, but stay in the top 5 because of a blowout win against Servite. 

5. St. John Bosco (3-1): Bosco improves to 3-1 following a win over Hawaii’s Kahuku, but they drop a spot because of Mater Dei’s big win. 

6. Orange Lutheran (2-1): Head coach Ray Fenton and the Lancers win their third straight, defeating Serra 35-0. They also have wins over Cathedral Catholic and Basha, keeping them at the No.6 spot.

7. JSerra Catholic (3-1): The Hardy Nickerson era has arrived, blowing out previously ranked Oak Hills 63-0 to move up one spot. They also boast a win over Crean Lutheran, with their only loss coming to Sierra Canyon in week zero. 

8. San Clemente (4-0): Despite a win over La Costa Canyon, San Clemente drops a spot because of JSerra’s big win. The Tritons are red-hot, though, boasting wins over Tustin and Chaparral to stay in the top 10.

9. Mission Viejo (3-1):  Mission Viejo bounced back from their loss against Folsom with a 56-0 blowout win over San Diego’s Lincoln. They also have blowout wins over Chaparral and St. Paul.

10. Servite (2-2): Servite responds to their loss to Arizona’s Centennial with a 69-14 win over St. Paul. Their other loss was to Corona Centennial in week zero, but they do boast a win over Murrieta Valley.

11. Pacifica (4-0): The Tritons are rolling at 4-0 with a blowout win over Highland. They move up one spot.

12. Palos Verdes (4-0): Ryan Rakowksi and the Sea Kings are unbeatable right now, cruising past Edison 28-3 to move up one spot. They also have wins over Serra and Carson.

13. Chaparral (2-2): Even without Cal commit Dane Weber, Chaparral is not to be taken lightly. He led the Pumas to a 20-15 win over previously ranked Rancho Cucamonga, bumping them up three spots. They also have a win over San Juan Hills and both of their losses have been against top-10 opponents.

14. Corona del Mar (4-0): Another squad that is playing outstanding football, Corona del Mar keeps the No.14 spot after a win over rival Newport Harbor.  They also have wins over Edison, Lakewood and Santa Barbara.

15. Crean Lutheran (2-2): Crean Lutheran falls four more spots after back-to-back losses to JSerra and an out-of-area opponent. They stay in the top 15 because of wins against Mira Costa and Loyola.

16. Norco (4-0): The Cougars continue to handle business, blowing out Etiwanda 56-26 to stay undefeated. They’re outscoring opponents 216-47. 

17. Inglewood (3-1): The Sentinels are looking dangerous, defeating Sacramento’s Franklin 50-21. They also beat Los Alamitos, with their only loss coming out of state.

18. Huntington Beach (4-0): There might not be a team playing better football than Huntington Beach. They handed Redondo Union their first loss of the season and also have wins over Millikan,  Los Alamitos and Woodrow Wilson.

19. Tustin (3-1): The Tillers have won three straight since their week zero loss to San Clemente, with wins over Damien and Long Beach Poly. They jump two spots. 

20. La Habra (4-0): DJ Mitchell and the Highlanders keep finding ways to win, defeating Mira Costa 29-24 to stay perfect at 4-0. They keep the No.20 spot.

21. San Juan Hills (3-1): San Juan Hills keeps the No.21 spot after a 67-0 win against SPXSMA. Their only loss was to Chaparral in week one.

22. Bishop Amat (4-0): It’s been a dream start for head coach Kory Minor and Amat. They haven’t had a game come within three possessions, boasting wins over Culver City, Oak Hills, St. Paul and Valencia. They jump one spot.

23. Yorba Linda, NEW (4-0): It’s about time Yorba Linda makes this list. They enter after starting the year off at 4-0, with wins over Laguna Beach, Long Beach Poly, El Dorado and Esperanza.

24. Carson, RE-ENTER (3-1): The Colts re-enter the top 25 after a win over Long Beach Poly. Their only loss was to Palos Verdes and they also boast a win over San Diego’s Lincoln.

25. Damien (2-2): Damien drops six spots after a loss to Tustin, making it back-to-back losses for the Spartans.
